Heat + Electrolytes

Many people are not aware that sweating causes loss of salts as well as water. It is essential that BOTH are replaced in order to avoid heat exhaustion and even death. Consider how much you are sweating, and drink ahead of your thirst. Usually, in hot conditions, by the time you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Here is a simple, tasty, homemade recipe for a healthy “gatorade” type beverage that will meet this need:

Electrolyte Drink
½ Gallon water
¼ cup white grape juice concentrate OR 1 cup reconstituted white grape juice
(preferably organic)
the juice of 2 lemons
¼ -½ tsp. Sea salt
(drink should be pleasantly salty)
Drink this at full strength, or diluted with water or ice.
